Cookie & Storage Notice
This notice explains what CircuitSync stores in your browser. Most of what we use is strictly necessary to run the app or a preference you set yourself. We also use one product-analytics tool (PostHog) to understand how the site is used. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party ad tracking.
Your choices
Analytics is never required to use CircuitSync. How we ask for it depends on where you are:
- In the UK, EEA, Switzerland, Canada, and Brazil, analytics stays off until you choose "Accept" on our cookie banner.
- Elsewhere, analytics runs by default and you can opt out at any time from the banner.
- We honour your browser's Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as an opt-out everywhere.
You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the "Manage cookies" link in the page footer.
What we use
CircuitSync runs as an offline-capable web app. For its core function it uses your browser's localStorage, sessionStorage, and a local IndexedDB database (for offline event timing), plus HTTP cookies set by our own authentication to keep you
signed in. With your consent, our analytics tool also sets its own cookies and storage (see below).
Strictly necessary
These are required for the app to work and cannot be turned off:

| "Remember this device" (2FA) | Lets you skip a second-factor prompt on a device you trusted. |
| Local sync database | Stores your event data offline so timing keeps working without a connection, and queues changes to sync when you reconnect. |
| Club branding cache | Shows the correct club logo and colours instantly, including offline. |
Preferences
These remember choices you make. Clearing them simply resets to defaults:

Analytics (with your consent)
We use PostHog as our product-analytics provider to understand how the site is used and improve it. PostHog acts as our data processor, and our project is hosted in the European Union. When analytics is active it sets its own cookies and storage, and collects:

| Session replay | A reconstruction of on-screen activity to spot usability issues. Text typed into forms is masked, and replay is turned off entirely on signed-in operator and driver pages so other people's details are not recorded. |
| Approximate location and device | Derived from your IP address and browser (e.g. country, browser type) for aggregate insight. |
If you are signed in as an operator, we associate these events with your account. Spectators stay anonymous. We do not use this data for advertising, and we do not sell or share it. Analytics data is retained for a limited period and can be deleted on request (contact us below).
What we do not use
- No advertising or social-media tracking pixels.
- No cross-site or cross-app behavioural ad tracking.
- No selling or sharing of your personal information.
Managing storage
Use the "Manage cookies" link in the footer to change your analytics choice at any time. You can also clear all of this data through your browser's settings (clearing site data for this domain). Note that clearing the local sync database while you have unsynced changes may lose work that has not yet reached the server.
